Chase Ultimate Rewards Transfer Partners Update

Sometime in the past few days, Chase Ultimate Rewards (UR) added two new transfer partners to their program with little fanfare. With the addition of Aer Lingus AerClub and Iberia Plus, Chase Ultimate Rewards Transfer Partners now counts nine airlines within the program. These two newly added loyalty programs aren’t very well known to American flyers.

Aer Lingus AerClub’s structure is not very well known in the US, especially given that it was only officially launched in March of 2017. When you fly with Aer Lingus or airlines with a codeshare agreement with Aer Lingus you get both Avios and AerClub Tier Credits. Yes, this is a common Avios currency with British Airways. Avios can be spent in a wide variety of ways outlined here.Tier Credits are just like elite qualifying miles on any other major airline. There are four tiers: Green, Silver, Platinum, and Concierge. More information is available here.

Award flights are available on British Airways, Aer Lingus, and Iberia. The award chart is zone-based.

An example flight from Dublin to New York is Zone 5, which provides a hugely competitive 13,000 point flight in economy. Taxes and fees may remain high, especially if flying with British Airways.

Iberia Plus is roughly the same as Aer Club. You will now earn Avios when flying with Iberia and any other partner airline, but will earn Elite Points to upgrade your Iberia Plus membership level. Iberia Plus has three levels: Plata, Oro, and Platino. Their full Elite Point earning chart is available here. Peak and off-peak calendar is available here.

Elite Points are earned flying the airlines seen below:

Credit card support for Iberia Plus is fairly strong. They have their own co-branded card (possibly only available to Europeans) called the Iberia Icon Card available with a 10,000 Avios welcome bonus. You can apply here. Their website also mentions a 40,000 Avios bonus from the American Express Platinum Card. (Spanish Version Only likely) Membership Rewards Points (MR) can also be transferred to Iberia Plus Avios.
